August 13, 2002 Somehow 2 months managed to slip by without us noticing that we needed to post a news update on the website, but we promise you that it has been a busy two months. Firstoff DHR moved to a new and improved home last month and we are still trying to catch up with merch orders and demo responses, so we apologize if you have been waiting for either and appreciate your patience. In other news, the DHR staff just returned from visiting Mind Of My Own at the studio in Arizona. We managed to log over 3000 driving miles in a little less than 77 hours and during that time we covered almost every square inch of Arizona, hung out with MOMO and Bob Hoag at Flying Blanket Studios, partied in Nogales, Mexico, had our car broken into in Tucson (if you ever stay overnight in Tucson, then never ever stay at the Comfort Inn on W. Star Pass Road), and survived a 2 hour drive from Bakersfield to San Luis Obispo on Highway 58 in the middle of the night (we definitely suggest never ever taking the 58 at night). Some of you might be thinking that it would be impossible to do everything we did in only 77 hours, but I assure you that when two of three drivers sleep for a combined total of only 10 hours a piece then it can indeed happen (it should be noted that the third driver slept for well over 30 hours and for all intensive purposes was worthless the entire trip). So in any event, the DHR staff is back home, MOMO is still in Arizona, some terrible people are walking the streets of Tucson with about 4000 Dollars worth of our stuff, and life goes on. May 22nd, 2002 We regret to inform you that we are pulling Mind Of My Own off their upcoming national tour and instead we are sending them to spend half of the summer in Chandler, Arizona. Why Chandler of all places? Well as it turns out Chandler is the home of Flying Blanket Studios, where a gentleman by the name of Bob Hoag produces and engineers records for bands like The Stereo, The Impossibles, The Aeffect, Recover, Pollen, Co-Ed, and Girl Repellent to name but a few. Why would we want to send Mind Of My Own to stay with Bob Hoag and why this summer? Well very simply we thought it was high time for MOMO to record a full-length record and who better to produce it then Bob, and when better for them to record it then this summer. What does this mean for MOMO fans? It means that you will finally have a MOMO full-length record and you should look out for it this Fall right here on Double Helix Records. April 3rd, 2002 Congratulations to our friends Yellowcard who recently signed to Capitol Records. As saddened as we are that Yellowcard has left Lobster Records, we are at the same time ecstatic that a whole new audience of listeners will be able to experience the power and beauty of Yellowcard's music -- music that has positively affected everyone here at Double Helix Records and hopefully all of you as well. Good luck Warren, Sean, Ben, Ryan, and L.P. and we wish you nothing but the best!!! March 13th, 2002 We have very good news for all of you Mind Of My Own fans out there: MOMO will be heading out on a national tour this summer!!! When and where they will go is still in the process of being worked out, but as soon as we start finding out tour dates then we will be posting them in our events section, and you will also be able to find them posted at Mind Of My Own's official online home, www.mindofmyown.net. In other MOMO news, mindofmyown.net just underwent a huge overhaul and if you haven't already seen the new site (which in our opinion looks awesome) then you should definitely swing by to check it out. March 11th, 2002 Double Helix Records would like to thank all of you that helped Mind Of My Own out this past week by e-mailing Kevin from the Warped Tour. We have not gotten the official word on whether or not MOMO will be added to this year's tour, but we have heard that they will be part of Warped Tour 2003, so thank you all very very much, it simply would not have been possible without you. February 2nd, 2002 The new Mind Of My Own "Runaway Chicken" shirts came in yesterday and are now available for sale at the store. Our online credit card ordering system went live back in January and so now all of our merchandise is as easy to order as it possibly could be, so please feel free to order away. February 1st, 2002 We would like to thank everyone that came out to see Mind Of My Own in December and January and a very special thanks goes out to those of you who made it out for the "Sky/Clouds/Faces" CD release show at Koo's Café in Santa Ana, CA which featured MOMO, Jack's Broken Heart, and our new friends The Pale hailing from Bellingham, Washington. For those of you who weren't able to catch a Mind Of My Own show this time around, you will get another chance this summer, we promise. December 24th, 2001 Everyone at Double Helix Records would like to wish you happy holidays and nothing but the best for the new year. Thank you for your support of DHR and the artists we have had the great privilege to work with over this past year. Everyone at DHR looks forward to bringing you even more incredible music this coming year, so get ready for some excitement in 2002. December 2nd, 2001 Sometime during the next two weeks the Double Helix Records website will be undergoing a small overhaul to make things around here a bit nicer. Some new merchandise is going to be added to the store and it will be expanded to allow for credit card ordering, the information section will finally be added and a few other updates will be made as well. We might even add a message board. If you have any suggestions of things that you would like to see added to the site, then please contact us to let us know and we will be sure to look into it for you. December 1st, 2001 We are very excited to report that Mind Of My Own will be playing some Southern California show dates this month. We will post all pertinent information in our events section, so please keep checking back to see if any new dates have been added. Mind Of My Own will be showcasing brand new material as well as playing in support of the release of "Sky/Clouds/Faces," and they will have some brand new merchandise for sale. The DHR site will also soon be posting some new MOMO mp3s so if you’re interested in hearing them then keep visiting the site. November 23rd, 2001 We wanted to let everyone know that our friends Jack’s Broken Heart are heading out this week on a tour which will pass through Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Arizona and will conclude with a date in Los Angeles, CA. The band will be selling copies of "Sky/Clouds/Faces," which features two brand new previously unreleased JBH tracks as well as great music from Wheelie, Yellowcard, and Double Helix Records’ very own Mind Of My Own. Check out our events section or visit www.jacksbrokenheart.com for show dates and locations. We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! October 25th, 2001 Double Helix Records recently teamed up with Red Helix Records to produce "Sky/Clouds/Faces," a 12 song/4-way split CD featuring Mind Of My Own, Yellowcard, Wheelie, and Jack's Broken Heart. The CD is set for a January release in stores, but advance copies will be available as early as November 29th and can be purchased at any of the shows listed in our events section or you can visit the store to obtain them through our convenient mail order service. July 29th, 2001 Mind Of My Own recently headed into the studio to record a cover version of "El Scorcho," for Skunk Ape Records' re-release of Making Noise: A Tribute to Weezer which features a brand new band line-up and is set to hit stores in August, 2001. July 29th, 2001 By now you probably have noticed that the monotonous "Coming Soon," logo which for so long adorned our site has been replaced with the design at which you are currently looking. What does this sudden turn of events mean? It means that our brand new site has now been completed. We hope you enjoy it. June 22nd, 2001 Mind Of My Own is currently in Hollywood, CA recording three new songs at Westbeach Recorders with producer/engineer Donnell Cameron. Donnell's credits include: Blink182's "Dude Ranch" album, Offspring's "Smash," as well as the latest from Strung Out, Millencolin, and Rocket From The Crypt. All 3 songs will be appearing on a 12 song/4-way DHR split CD/LP release which will also feature: Yellowcard (Lobster Records), Wheelie, and Jack's Broken Heart. May 15th, 2001 Our friends over at Up To Zero Records recently released a brand new compilation CD entitled "All That Matters," which is in support of the American Cancer Society. The CD features great music by Mind Of My Own, Longfellow, Five State Drive, and Brownie Points to name just a few and of course your donation is a wonderful opportunity to aid in the fight against cancer. For more information on the compilation or the ACS please visit: www.uptozero.com or www.cancer.org. |
